"In the past several years, ROVR has saved hundreds of lives by informing drivers about habits and patterns of behavior that might someday result in a crash. With the new cellSAFE feature we can finally address the critical issue of distraction cause by cellular phones while driving," says David Armitage, CEO of Cartasite.
cellSAFE can monitor and even block virtually any cell phone while the vehicle is in motion. The cellSAFE technology, powered by Cellcontrol, works in conjunction with Cartasite's patent-pending ROVR, the world's first realtime driver performance scoring system.
ROVR plugs into the OBD port found next to the steering column on every car and truck built since 1996. This tiny black box measures subtle movements of the vehicle that have been shown to be indicative of distracted or aggressive driving patterns.
Cartasite developed sophisticated algorithms that translate all of this data into a scorecard which is emailed to each driver every week. The scorecard is easy to understand and provides useful insights into changes to consider making that will save fuel, reduce emissions, and reduce crash risk.
"The ROVR scorecards have proven remarkably effective in reducing MVI rates at some of the largest energy companies worldwide. Drivers actually compete for the highest score and earn rewards for driving safely. The new cellSAFE option will help reduce crashes caused by distracted driving and address a significant liability that all commercial fleet operators face," noted Colonel Mark Trostel, former Chief of the Colorado State Patrol and head of Encana's Driving Safety Program.
Cartasite and Cellcontrol have collaborated to bring the new cellSAFE feature to ROVR, helping commercial fleets enhance the safety of their drivers and the nation's highways.
