Telematics provider CalAmp has managed more than 10 million telematics devices since its founding, including more than 5 million added within the past three years, the Irvine, Calif.-based company announced.

The devices have been added to CalAmp's PULS device management platform. When paired with the CalAmp Telematics Cloud microservices, the company has established an ecosystem that's ready for over-the-top subscription services and other data monetization opportunities, according to the company.

"This dramatic doubling of PULS managed devices in just three years with 40% of that growth in the last year and a half alone is truly remarkable," said Michael Burdiek, CalAmp's president and chief executive. "Our substantial global PULS-enabled installed base along with our developing CTC microservice ecosystem has created an amazing market expansion opportunity to deliver unique over-the-top services such as our recently announced CrashBoxx Portal. We see the opportunity to mine this installed base down the line with additional over-the-top services such as driver behavior analytics and asset management solutions. We will also continue to explore opportunities to tap into the PULS-CTC ecosystem with partners such as TransUnion and others to expand our addressable market through data monetization activities."

In early April, CalAmp began a partnership with credit agency TransUnion to help insurance carriers better manage risk, minimize replacement losses, and improve customer service using CalAmp's LoJack device by activating additional units previously in a dormant state.
