WASHINGTON - General Motors Corp. is recalling Cadillac CTS sedans registered or originally sold in states that use road salt or similarly corrosive materials on roadways during periods of snowfall. 

Some Cadillac CTS sedans have a condition in which the front brake hose fitting at the caliper may corrode after such corrosive materials enter and stay in the routing sleeve. If the fitting corrodes significantly, the brake hose-tube interface can develop a leak, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported. If the hose-tube interface suddenly ruptures as a result of the corrosion, this increases vehicle stopping distance and increases the likelihood of a crash. 

The states involved in the recall are Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia and Wisconsin. The city of Washington, D.C., is also included. 

GM dealers will replace both front brake hose assemblies free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin in May. Vehicle owners can contact Cadillac at (866) 982-2339.
