The Boyd Group, a major operator of collision repair centers in North America, announced it has purchased Collex Collision Experts for approximately $45 million. 

The deal includes both Collex Collision Experts Inc. and Collex Collision Experts of Florida Inc., which combined to generate $46 million in sales last year. The two entities operate 16 collision repair centers in Michigan and Florida.

"Collex, along with our previous acquisition of Hansen Collision and Glass, provides us with a leading market position in Michigan and increases our footprint in Florida,” said Brock Bulbuck, Boyd Group president and CEO. “This reinforces our position as the largest multi-shop operator in North America in terms of number of locations and further strengthens our ability to serve our U.S. insurance industry clients."

The Boyd Group operates in 15 U.S. states under the trade names of Gerber Collision & Glass, Hansen Collision and Collision Revision. Additionally, the company has locations in five Canadian provinces under the trade name of Boyd Autobody & Glass.

The Boyd Group is also a major retail auto glass operator in the U.S., with locations across 28 U.S. states under the trade names of Gerber Collision & Glass, Glass America, Auto Glass Services, Auto Glass Only, Auto Glass Authority, S&L Glass and Hansen Auto Glass.
