BMW to Offer 5 Battery EVs by 2021
The BMW Group plans to offer five battery-electric vehicles for sale in the U.S. by 2021, including four new models alongside the current i3 hatchback.

The BMW Group plans to offer five battery-electric vehicles for sale in the U.S. by 2021, including four new models alongside the current i3 hatchback.
BMW will also offer an electric version of its X3 compact SUV called the iX3, as well as the i4 Model S competitor with a 435-mile range, iNext crossover, and Mini Electric.
BMW Group is now developing its fifth generation electric drivetrain that will debut with the iX3 in 2020. The powertrain's electric motor doesn't require rare earth metals such as dysprosium, neodymium, and praseodymium.
BMW also plans to continue to produce its line of plug-in hybrid vehicles and conventional drivetrains. By the end of 2019, BMW expects to have more than 500,000 electrified vehicles on the road.
