BMW has provided full details about its 2016 330e iPerformance gasoline-electric hybrid sedan that provides 14 miles of electric range and about 350 miles of total range.

The 330e pairs a four-cylinder gasoline engine with BMW's TwinPower turbo technology that produces 180 hp and 215 lb.-ft. of torque with an electric motor that makes 87 hp and 184 lb.-ft. A 7.6-kilowatt-per-hour lithium-ion battery pack is mounted under the load compartment.

Various settings give drivers the option to control the operation of the hybrid drive system.

Drivers can choose from three BMW eDrive-specific programs. Auto eDrive is the default setting which ensures an optimized driving situation using the combustion engine and electric motor. Max eDrive uses electric power only, allowing the car to drive up to 75 mph for a maximum 14 miles with zero local emissions. Save battery mode will either charge the battery using the combustion engine or "freeze" it to save the remaining electric energy.

The Driving Dynamics Control switch controls the car's remaining settings. Drivers can choose between the Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ modes as available.

The BMW 330e iPerformance comes with Proactive Driving Assistant, an energy-management system that accesses both static data from the interactive map and real-time traffic information to identify the best use of electric or combustion energy.

A full charge of the battery takes two-and-a-half hours using a BMW i Wallbox Level II 240-volt charger or up to seven hours using the supplied 120-volt charging cable. The BMW i mobility service ChargeNow allows access to the largest network of public charging stations worldwide.
