BMW Recalls i3 EVs for Neck Injury Risk
The recall, expected to begin in January, covers more than 30,000 electric vehicles in the 2014-2018 model years.

BMW is recalling 30,542 i3 electric cars from 2014-2018 because small-stature drivers who fail to wear a seat belt may be at a higher risk for neck injuries than is deemed acceptable, according to Consumer Reports.
The automaker is conducting the recall in response to front crash test results from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A NHTSA front crash test indicated a higher risk of neck injury for a 5-foot-tall, 110-pound unbelted woman.
Of the recalled vehicles, 1,159 are still on dealer lots.
BMW is now investigating why its own crash tests produced different results and what remedy is best suited to resolve the problem. The recall will get under way in January, according to Consumer Reports.
