Bi-lingual Smartphone App Notifies in the Event of a Vehicular Collision
LAGUNA HILLS, CA - Iconosys, Inc. has announced its latest, state-of-the-art Smartphone app, Collision Watch, an emergency responder safety app and protection service for Android OS phones that is now available for download in English and Spanish.

When the app user is involved in an automobile accident, Collision Watch automatically sends an alert to an emergency responder so that help can arrive as quickly as possible.

When the app user is involved in an automobile accident, Collision Watch automatically sends an alert to an emergency responder so that help can arrive as quickly as possible. If the initial contact (doctor, family member, etc.) does not respond, a second message is then automatically sent and if that party does not reply, a message is sent to an emergency contact, such as 911 or other local emergency services designated number, with an indicator showing emergency responders the precise location of the phone/accident.
Watching over you, literally, Collision Watch is downloadable to one's own cell phone and using GPS, direction, g-force and other proprietary technologies, the app records and tracks driving patterns and will call for help in the case of a forward-traveling collision over a certain speed. Collision Watch will also be built into the upcoming release of DriveReply Fleet and DriveReply Pro, two more groundbreaking Smartphone driver-safety apps that utilize Iconosys' own proprietary DriveReply technology.
In the case of a possible collision, Collision Watch will take over your phone's functions, speakers, and alarms; an alarm will sound that you must disable in 180 seconds. Should the alarm not be disabled by an occupant in the car (for example, you are injured, pinned, or cannot access the phone to do so), primary contacts will be notified of the possible collision with a text message. If they do not respond in 120 seconds, secondary contacts are alerted with a similar text message, and if neither they nor the primaries respond in that combined 240 seconds, then based on pre-set options, emergency services can or will be notified of a vehicle's exact location, along with data regarding the estimated speed and severity of collision impact. At that time, emergency responders can attempt to contact the driver and or send emergency services and hopefully shorten the time between the accident and potentially life-saving help.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood recently announced that in 2009 there were 33,808 deaths from automobile accidents. Additionally, in 2008 the National Institute for Highway Safety reported that 37,261 people died behind the wheel. In 2008, 5,800,000 police-reported collisions occurred resulting in 2,346,000 injuries. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) research, distracted driving-related fatalities, such as fatalities resulting from texting-while-driving, represented approximately 16 percent of overall traffic fatalities in 2009.
