Auto Driveaway Company (ADC) announced on Nov. 4 a change in ownership effective November 1, 2004. A group of Auto Driveaway franchise owners has purchased the assets from Brandon Sohl, son of the company's founder. The new owners plan to reinforce the current emphasis on customer service while improving operational efficiency and enhancing technology. Ron Fredriksen has been appointed acting chief operating officer and John Hill will remain as the national sales manager. ADC, in business for over 50 years, has 53 offices in the U.S. and Canada serving its commercial and private shipper markets. Company fleets and other commercial enterprises use ADC to move their cars, trucks, and other specialty vehicles by employing professional drivers or facilitating transport by truck carrier. The company also offers on-site vehicle inspections, license and titling services, and vehicle storage. Headquartered in Chicago, ADC uses franchise owners to manage its coast-to-coast network of office locations. “These local operations give the company a competitive advantage, putting use close to our geographically dispersed customer base,” comments Steve Westerfield, president of the Auto Driveaway Franchise Owners Association. “Our extensive network is just one reason why we are investing in the future of Auto Driveaway. We are truly excited about the future for all of our franchise offices and employees”. The current management team will remain in place, reporting to Fredriksen. Fredriksen has been Auto Driveaway for 29 years. John Hill, national sales manager for the last 12 years, will continue in that position.
