Aussie State of Queensland Doubles EV Incentives
The Australian state of Queensland has implemented new electric vehicle (EV) incentives, the most generous in the country, reports the Australasian Fleet Management Association.

To foster increased EV use on Queensland roads, the Australian state recently raised incentive amounts to $6,000 for EVs costing up to $68,000.

The Australian state of Queensland’s new electric vehicle (EV) incentives are the most generous in the country for transitioning to EVs, according to a recent report by the Australasian Fleet Management Association (AfMA).
Queensland’s Zero Emission Vehicle Rebate Scheme offers a $6,000 subsidy for EVs costing up to $68,000, twice the amount available when the program launched in July.
The incentives increase was prompted by changing EV prices caused due to rising materials costs and inflation, Queensland Energy Minister Mick de Brenni explained to AfMA.
“We’re seeing the prices of EVs fluctuate on the back of rising materials costs and inflation … so we’ve increased the eligible price cap to $68,000 and increased the rebate amount from $3,000 to $6,000 for eligible households,” de Brenni said. “We want more zero-emission vehicles on Queensland roads.”
According to AfMA, Queensland businesses can apply for up to five rebates per financial year to transition their fleets to electric vehicles.
Under the new scheme, vehicles costing $68,000 — excluding dealer delivery fees — are eligible. Twelve vehicles are currently eligible, and seven more are expected to be added to the list later this year. Eligible vehicles include:
Renault Kangoo (commercial vehicle)
BYD Atto 3
Previously, the scheme was limited to vehicles costing up to $58,000.
