Audi has added its name to the list of automakers developing a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, as the automaker introduced the A7 Sportback h-tron quattro concept at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The all-wheel-drive A7 h-tron uses a fuel cell to charge its lithium-ion battery and power its electric motor and produces 230 hp and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. The vehicle can also charge in plug-in electric mode; a full-charge takes two hours. The concept vehicle has achieved 310 miles of range in initial testing, according to Audi.

When operating in fuel-cell mode, the vehicl needs 2.2 pounds of hydrogen to reach 62.1 miles. The vehicle sheds weight by using a plastic exhaust system.
