“Telematics is something every fleet should be at least considering,” says Steidle.  “While it isn’t right for everyone, it’s important for managers to understand the potential these tools offer.  Standalone solutions provide some value, but a fully integrated system can significantly increase that value.”

The discussion will center on the safety, compliance, productivity and the cost savings potential of telematics integration. Candeloro and Steidle will outline both the advantages and disadvantages of telematics use while addressing common concerns, such as multiple telematics providers and workforce acceptance.

“These tools and capabilities are exciting,” says Candeloro.  “We want to help fleet and equipment managers see the benefits of being fully integrated through one fleet management system.  By melding together a variety of information streams, managers can get a full picture of their fleet and identify savings.”

Starting November 1, the 2011 Symposium offers two full days of presentations, workshops, seminars, and discussions personalized for equipment and operations professionals with coordinating certification exams on November 3.  For more information about the symposium, visit aemp.org/education/meetings/2011_ams.html
