Altec Recalling Digger Derrick Trucks
The recall, affecting 661 trucks, will allow technicians to fix a feeder tube problem.
Altec Industries Inc. is recalling 661 2009-2013 model-year DT80 and 2011-2013 MY D2, D3 and D4 digger derrick trucks so technicians can address a feeder tube problem, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.
The feeder tube is the telescopic hydraulic tube that supplies pump flow to the auger. In the recalled trucks, the fasteners that hold the bracket for the feeder tube may become loose, allowing the feeder tube to fall.
The recall covers trucks manufactured from June 2009 through November 2013.
Altec service centers will install an upgraded feeder tube bracket and mounting hardware to resolve the issue. There will be no charge for this service.
The recall is due to get under way in February. Altec’s number for the recall is CSN 591.
