VERWOOD, ENGLANDM – Airmax Remote has launched its Direct to Dash (D2D) technology for advanced diagnostics and driver behavior analysis. Coupled with GPS this has also spawned the launch of “Pay How You Drive” initiatives with Royal Sun & Alliance (RSA) and Zurich. Using agreed key performance indicators (KPI’s) the technology has already gained interest from the leasing market with ALD placing orders for its Contract maintenance fleet under the successful brand of Profleet2.
Remote vehicle diagnostics, forensics, prognostics, and engine and driver monitoring will assist in planning and maintenance and as well as preventing expensive vehicle or driver down-time. Remote over-air-programming and off-board service interval and maintenance scheduling is a management tool and offers fleet savings and as well as potential peace of mind for the driver. Airmax’s new Remote diagnostics system is by far the company’s flag ship application.
The Remote diagnostics system enables asset managers to confront and control warranty issues and be able to administer just-in-time vehicle management. This avoids expensive claims and more importantly arguments about liability and accountability of system or product failures. Also, being able to listen and potentially talk to the engine electronics will provide the sales pull for the leasing and contract hire companies. Vehicles will become self-analyzing, possibly ordering component parts as needed without human intervention.
Location-based services adding GPS and Cell location to KPI’s has enabled Airmax to create driver league tables and reports that assist with Health and Safety legalization and Duty of Care. Rather than track and trace which clearly has come of age adding new features such as event driven location data has enabled new reports to quickly identify poor driving techniques as well as maintenance issues.
These emerging services emphasize different aspects of telematics. Content-centric services include, for example; CO2 measurement per trip and refuel events.
