64 KME Predator Fire Trucks Recalled
WASHINGTON - Kovatch Mobile Equipment is recalling 64 MY 2007-2009 KME Predator fire trucks because of an engine problem.
WASHINGTON - Kovatch Mobile Equipment is recalling 64 MY 2007-2009 KME Predator fire trucks because of an engine problem.
The emergency vehicles covered by the recall are equipped with Detroit Diesel Series 60 engines, and were manufactured from Oct. 15, 2007 through Nov. 23, 2009, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. The engine software may cause the engine to shut down unexpectedly when a diesel particulate filter over-temperature condition is detected.
This poses a safety risk not only for the occupants of the fire truck, but may also hinder rescue operations of first responders.
Daimler Trucks will contact vehicle owners of the recall, and repairs will be performed by Detroit Diesel.
