Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling 41,169 2019 Jeep Cherokee compact SUVs because the impact and acceleration sensors may fail and reduce the air bag system's ability to properly detect certain crash events.
This scenario could result in the improper deployment of an air bag during a crash, which increases the risk of injury.
To fix the problem, FCA will notify owners and dealers will replace the affected sensors, at no cost to owners.
The recall begins Aug. 2. Owners can reach FCA customer service at (800) 853-1403.
FCA's reference number for this recall is V63.
