Hyundai's planned refresh of its U.S. lineup marches on with an update of the Tucson compact SUV for 2019 that includes a new advanced safety technology and a styling facelift.

With the upgrades, the 2019 Tucson retails for at least $24,245, including a $1,045 delivery fee. The retail price increases $650 from the outgoing model.

Safety-oriented fleet purchasers will be most interested in the new standard SmartSense safety technologies that are now standard across the lineup, including forward collision-avoidance assist automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and driver attention warning to alert drowsy drivers.

Hyundai is also offering new available safety technology, including high beam assist, rain-sensing wipers, a second-row USB outlet, and Qi wireless charging.

Hyundai is shuffling the trim grades for the 2019 Tucson, which will be available in six trim grades from SE base to Value, SEL, Sport, Limited, and Ultimate. The former SEL Plus model has been dropped, and Ultimate replaced the former Limited with the Ultimate option package.

Hyundai has carried over two of the three engines from the 2018 model year, and dropped the turbocharged 1.6-liter engine. The SE and Value models are powered by a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine (164 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque) mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The higher grades offer a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 181 hp and 195 lb.-ft. Optional all-wheel drive adds $1,400.
