The Lexus RX 450hL hybrid luxury SUV will go on sale this April with a starting price of $51,615.
The three-row crossover is also available in a Luxury edition at $55,550, according to Lexus. The RX 450hL combines the 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine with two high-torque electric drive motor-generators, producing a combined 308 hp.
The new RX 450hL model extends the body length 4.3 inches at the rear and uses a steeper tailgate window angle than on the two-row models to improve headroom for third-row passengers, according to Lexus. Both the base version and the luxury edition include AWD, and come standard with second-row captain’s chairs, driver seat, side mirror and steering wheel memory, and Lexus Enform Safety Connect and Service Connect complimentary for the first 10 years of vehicle ownership. The system provides communications, roadside assistance, car safety, remote diagnostics, and other services, according to Lexus.
It includes an EV drive mode that enables the vehicle to drive under electric power at lower speeds for short distances.
Access to the third row is made possible touch of a lever that slides and folds the second-row seats forward. Positioning of the second row is slightly higher than the third row, creating more foot room for rear passengers.
Standard safety features includes the Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, intelligent high beams and all-speed dynamic radar cruise control, according to the automaker. Blind spot monitor with intuitive parking assist and rear cross-traffic braking are also available.
Features for the RX 450hL Luxury AWD includes interior LED ambient illumination, manual rear door sunshades, aluminum, 20-inch alloy wheels with machined finish and selectable color inserts, a heated wood steering wheel and more.
