2012 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Named IIHS Top Safety Pick

CYPRESS, CA – The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named Mitsubishi’s 2012-MY Outlander Sport a Top Safety Pick. The vehicle received a "good" test score in front impact crash testing, side impact crash testing, roof strength test results, and rear crash protection/head restraint ratings. The vehicle also features electronic stability control.
According to the IIHS, Mitsubishi made changes to the roof structure of this vehicle to improve rollover protection. The Top Safety Pick designation only applies to the 2012 sport model, IIHS stated.
This is the second Mitsubishi vehicle (the other is the Lancer) to qualify since the Institute made earning the award tougher in 2010 by requiring good performance in a roof strength test that assesses rollover protection, according to IIHS.
