2008 Subaru Impreza Aces Frontal Crash Test
ARLINGTON, Va. --- The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has given the 2008 Subaru Impreza an overall rating of "good" for its performance in a frontal crash test.
ARLINGTON, Va. --- The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has given the 2008 Subaru Impreza an overall rating of "good" for its performance in a frontal crash test. Based on crash tests, the institute rates vehicles as either "good," "acceptable," "marginal," or "poor." The Impreza drew "good" ratings in all six test measures: structure/safety cage; head/neck injury; chest injury; leg/foot, left injury; leg/foot, right injury; and restraints/dummy kinematics. Redesigned for the 2008 model year, the Impreza was tested by Subaru as part of frontal crash test verification. "Dummy movement was well controlled," the institute said. "After the dummy moved forward into the airbag, it rebounded into the seat without its head coming close to any stiff structure that could cause injury." Further, the institute said, "measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity." The Impreza features side airbags, electronic stability control (optional), antilock brakes and daytime running lights. The vehicle tested was the 2008 Subaru Impreza 2.5i wagon.
