ATLANTA – There are currently 13 auctions participating in the Ford QUIC program. Ford plans to have about 40 auctions in the program by the end of this year. Last November, Ford Motor Co. selected Manheim Interactive to build an Internet-based product to replace its computer auction system, Ford EASY. Within a two-month period, Manheim developed QUIC (Quality Internet Cars), which enables Ford to sell vehicles online to its franchised dealers. Through QUIC, Ford dealers can purchase vehicles during a fixed-price inventory phase or through a sequential auction phase that is run by local Ford area managers. All cars listed on the QUIC site are located at an auction location, and all sales transactions that are placed on the site are finalized by participating auctions. When Manheim Interactive was given the opportunity to build Ford QUIC, the Ford EASY legacy system, which was 8 years old, was operating at 11 auction locations around the country.
