Hybrids Continue to Work Their Way into Fleets

The Shaklee fleet of 1,400 vehicles includes 12 Toyota Prius, and counting.

Pleasanton, CA- Shaklee Corp. in Pleasanton, which recently received the first climate neutral award for its proactive approach to help the environment, now has about 12 Toyota Prius hybrid gas/electric vehicles in its fleet. Shaklee CEO Bob Schults now buys the Prius for his high-performing salespeople.

Janice Pucci, who oversees about 1,400 vehicles as fleet operations manager for Shaklee, said in an interview with Automotive Fleet that she anticipated having about 100 Prius vehicles in her fleet in the future.

"It's the car of the future," Pucci said. "Unlike an electric vehicle, you don't have the inconvenience of recharging, since the gas engine does it for you."
