This week, Automotive Fleet is featuring LaQuona Porter, fleet manager for Augusta County.

Porter started out as a tag clerk at the Richmond County tax commissioner's office before moving to a business analyst position in the fleet services department. After seven years under that title, Porter has officially moved to fleet manager and has been in that position for almost five years now.

On the side, she's also a licensed realtor.

Meet LaQuona Porter

AF: What’s your professional background, and how did you get involved with fleet

Porter: I hold a Master of Business Administration in Management from Columbia Southern University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Augusta State University. I also hold a real estate license and a Public Manager Certification (CPM). I have a passion for helping others, and my goal in life is to leave a positive footprint with everyone I encounter. Prior to becoming a Fleet Manager, I worked as a Business Analyst in Augusta, Georgia, for five years. My experience included evaluating and managing budgets, reviewing legal contracts, developing standard operating procedures, and purchasing for the facilities maintenance, real estate, records Retention, and fleet management departments. Once the previous fleet manager retired, I was offered the interim position and subsequently applied for the permanent position.

AF: What’s your biggest piece of life advice?

Porter: Live life to the fullest because you only get one. Live life like it is golden.

Porter: My hobbies outside of work include putting together puzzles, diamond art, bowling, and cruising to different countries.

AF: If you were an animal, what type of animal would you be?

Porter: If I were an animal, I would be a dolphin because they are highly intelligent, strategic, team-oriented, natural communicators, adaptable, and resilient.

AF: What is the best part about being involved with the city?

Porter: The professional relationships that I have created. With all the departments in the fleet, we service the entire city, and our department provides continuous support to the city.
