The 2015 Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association (AFLA)’s annual conference was held Sept. 14-16, 2015, in Nashville. The conference attracted a record number of fleet managers and industry professionals who were treated to a wide range of speaker presentations building on the theme of the future.
While technology such as the connected car, autonomous technology, and telematics were front and center, cultural and business shifts were also explored. These included how emerging business practices are redefining procurement, how to navigate culture clashes when conducting international business, and how to handle and survive the multigenerational workplace.
Industry veterans past and present were honored during the annual awards ceremony. Brenda Davis of Baker Hughes was named as the Professional Fleet Manager of the Year. Michael Bieger of ADP was honored as the Fleet Executive of the Year. There were three new inductees to the Fleet Hall of Fame: Bob Mayfield, GE Capital Fleet Services veteran; Ron Pink, retired Xerox fleet manager; and Harley Westfall, chairman of Adrian Steel.
