Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling 222,207 2014-2019 Ram ProMaster vehicles equipped with 3.6L engines due to a transmission shifter cable issue.

Specifically, the transmission shifter cable may separate and disconnect from the transmission, causing the vehicle to fail to perform shifts intended by the driver.  In addition, the gear shift lever position may not match the actual transmission gear.

With this scenario, the driver may be unaware of the actual gear position and unintended vehicle movement can occur, increasing the likelihood of a collision.

To fix the problem, FCA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the transmission shift cable, at no cost to owners.

The recall begins March 13. Owners can reach Ram Trucks at  (866) 726-4636.

FCA’s number for this recall is W00.
