The more than 100,000 trucks that use the Comdata MyFleet card will have their choice of more than 4,000 locations to choose from for their tire buying, including truck stops and commercial tire dealers.
Modern Tire Dealer asked Justin King, senior vice president of product and innovation for FleetCor Technologies, three pressing questions about Comdata's announcement that its card users had gained access to a new perk — national account pricing on truck, trailer, and retread tires.
Comdata says the discount could help fleets save 65% on tires, or more than $200 compared to the lowest advertised price.
Here's our Q&A with King:
MTD: What tire brands are included in the discount?
King: We will be officially announcing our main partner tire manufacturers soon.
MTD: Do Comdata customers have to purchase their tires at certain locations or through specific partners? (ie – truck stops)
King: The dealer network includes over 4,000 locations, including truck stops and commercial tire resellers that participate in national account programs with the manufacturers. If a Comdata customer needs tires, our dedicated team of tire specialists and web portal helps them find the best tire(s) for their needs, price, and a place of installation.
MTD: Are they purchasing the tires directly from the tire manufacturers, or purchasing them through a retail/service provider who will then install the tires?
King: Customers in the program can go to a nearby dealer/seller, let them know that they are in our program, and select from a manufacturer of choice.
