BMW of North America, LLC is recalling an estimated 106,182 X1 sDrive28i and X1 xDrive28i for a structural defect. Specifically, in the event of a crash where the occupant’s head contacts the B-pillar, the pillar may not absorb an adequate amount of the impact.

In such a case, insufficient impact absorption can increase the likelihood of injury.

BMW is currently developing a remedy for this recall. The recall begins July 2. Owners can reach BMW customer service at (800) 525-7417.
