Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling an estimated 1,051 2019 A220 entry luxury sedans because of a brake pedal issue. Specifically, the pedal plate may bend due to improper welding, impairing the operation of the brake pedal.

If the brake pedal fails to function properly it may increase the likelihood of a collision. The recall includes the front- and all-wheel (4Matic) models.

To fix the problem, MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the welding of the brake pedal, replacing it as needed, at no cost to owners.

The recall begins June 19. Owners can reach MBUSA customer service at (800) 367-6372.
