Honda is recalling an estimated 322,897 2014-2019 Acura MDX and 2017-2019 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid vehicles because moisture may enter the tailgate lid lights, which could cause the loss of the tailgate lids lights and the taillights.

The absence of taillights reduces visibility for the driver, increasing the likelihood of a collision.

To fix the problem, Honda will notify owners, and dealers will modify the tailgate lid lights and install updated gaskets and a wiring sub-harness or will replace both tailgate lid lights, at no cost to owners.

The recall begins Apr. 29. Owners can reach Honda customer service at (888) 234-2138. Honda’s number for this recall is M49.
