Mazda North American Operations is recalling an estimated 682 2018 Mazda CX-5 vehicles because some side curtain airbags may not properly unfold during deployment. In the event of a crash where the curtain airbag deploys during a rollover event, this can lead to a heightened risk of injury to vehicle occupants.

Mazda is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue.

In its statement on the recall, the manufacturer has not provided details on how it plans to remedy the problem.
