Irvine, Calif.-based CalAmp is expanding the availability of its CrashBoxx risk management system and will begin providing more detailed collision information as an over-the-top service, the telematics provider has announced.

CalAmp will begin including CrashBoxx capabilities in compatible CalAmp devices so customers can receive automated push notifications and access to near real-time accident reconstruction reports via the new CrashBoxx Portal.

The more timely access to crash data should "expedite the repair process and analyze liability associated with collisions," according to the company.

When a collision occurs, a push notification will be sent to account administrators notifying them of the relative location, date, and time of the incident. The notification will include a link to the portal and include options to purchase dynamically generated reports with details of the collision. Report options will include severity, force of the crash, direction of impact, speed priot to impact, and other data.

Report pricing will be based on criteria such as region, severity of the crash, and urgency of demand. Customers will be able to opt out of the notifications.
