Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is recalling an estimated nine 2017 Jeep Renegade vehicles equipped with 2.4-liter engines because the may contain a cracked oil pump housing/balance shaft module (BSM). Such a situation can result in oil pump failure and engine stall, which can increase the occurrence of a crash.

To rectify the problem, Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the oil pump for its production information. In the event it is necessary, dealers will also replace the BSM at no cost to owners.

The recall begins April 13. Vehicle owners can reach FCA customer service at (800) 853-1403. FCA's reference number for this recall is U18.
