General Motors has released the first photos of the Chevrolet Bolt battery-electric vehicle being tested at the company's proving ground in Milford, Mich.

The Bolt will arrive as GM's first battery-electric vehicle offering a 200-mile range and priced at $30,000. GM plans to begin production of the Bolt EV in October 2016, and the vehicle is expected to go on sale in early 2017, according to a February Reuters report citing two supplier sources.

GM is also investing $245 million in its Orion Assembly facility near Detroit to build the Bolt, the company recently announced.
