The sale closed in mid-August, making the two auctions part of the largest wholesale vehicle marketplace, which operates under Cox Automotive’s Manheim brand. Cox announced the agreement to acquire the auctions in late July.

Manheim’s nationwide network spans over 80 auctions across the U.S., covering 6,500+ acres. The 450+ employees at the acquired locations will become Cox Automotive team members when the deal closes later this summer.

“This is more than an acquisition — it’s a celebration of progress, people, and possibility,” said Grace Huang, president of Cox Automotive Inventory Solutions, in an Aug. 18 news release. “These locations bring strong local roots, decades of service excellence, and a commitment to clients’ success. We look forward to shaping the future of automotive auctions together.”

This acquisition comes as Manheim celebrates its 80th anniversary.

BSC America's flagship auction, Bel Air Auto Auction, has been in business for 78 years, only two years short of Manheim.

  • Bel Air Auto Auction — now Manheim Maryland — enhances Manheim’s footprint in the high-demand Mid-Atlantic market and joins the Manheim Fredericksburg Market Center led by Craig Amelung.

  • Tallahassee Auto Auction — now Manheim Tallahassee — becomes Manheim’s 12th Florida location, filling a critical geographic gap, and joins the Manheim New Orleans Market Center led by Jeff Modjeski.

About 450 employees at the locations now join Cox Automotive.

With transition plans already underway, clients can expect business as usual in the near term, with the same regular sale days and the high level of support. Manheim will bring its full suite of technology to both locations in the coming months as the team works to fully integrate Manheim Maryland and Manheim Tallahassee into its broader network.

“We welcome our new team members as they join the Cox Automotive family,” added Alan Lang, senior vice president of physical services and auctions at Cox Automotive, in an Aug. 18 news release. “We’ve always believed that growth is powered by people, and these new team members will help drive our next chapter of innovation and service.”

“While we knew the time was right for our family to shift our business focus, it was deeply important to us that our auctions were set up for continued success and growth,” said R. Charles Nichols, president of BSC America, in a July 31 news release announcing the agreement to acquire. “With Cox Automotive’s continued commitment to and investment in its wholesale business, along with our shared values as family-owned companies, we are confident in the bright future ahead for our Bel Air and Tallahassee locations.”
