The standard manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the eSprinter all-electric cargo van is set at $71,886, Mercedes-Benz announced on Aug. 30.

The eSprinter will be available as a 170-inch wheelbase cargo van with a high roof equipped with a 113-kW-hour battery (usable capacity). The lithium/iron phosphate technology eliminates the use of any cobalt or nickel.

The all-new eSprinter features three different drive programs and five recuperation stages.

One advantage is the automatic function (D Auto) in which the car automatically defines the energy recovery rate based on the traffic situation. A radar sensor automatically adjusts the recuperation strength to ensure optimized recuperation.

Mercedes-Benz eSprinter Features

The eco assist in the dashboard shows the driver when to lift the foot off the pedal and then the vehicle can automatically choose the right strength of recuperation. The three drive programs (eco, comfort, and max range) can further assist the driver to drive efficiently or with maximum comfort.

The electric power train features two new developments: the motor and the electric rear axle. The permanent magnet synchronous motor weighs around 286 pounds.

The motor is available in two power levels, with 100 or 150 kWs of peak output. Both deliver a torque of up to 295 lbs.-ft. for at least 30 seconds.

The load capacity on the electric van is 488 cubic feet, and the permissible gross vehicle weight is 4.25 tons.

When charging at a wall box, the on-board AC charger has a maximum charging power of 9.6 kW, while the standard maximum charging power at DC fast-charging stations is up to 50 kW. With the optional upgrade, DC Fast Charging is available up to 115 kW allowing the battery to charge from about 10% to 80% in just over 40 minutes.

Mercedes Charge offers the use of charging stations from a network through an integrated payment function.

Inside, the optional operating system Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) can be operated by voice control, the touchscreen, and touch control buttons on the standard multifunctional steering wheel. The system has learning capabilities and intelligent voice control with natural language understanding and a verbal cue of "Hey Mercedes.”

An additional interior highlight is the optional digital rear view mirror offering the driver unobstructed views of the rear and a distinct advantage when in reverse. With this option, the conventional rear-view mirror installed on the windshield also serves as a digital rear-view mirror transmitting an image from a high dynamic range camera installed in the exterior rear end of the roof.

The mirror is equipped with light sensors at the front and rear and automatically adjusts the brightness of the display to ambient conditions.

Optional navigation with "electric intelligence" calculates the best possible charging strategy to get to the destination as quickly as possible, or to have the desired state of charge (SoC) at the destination.

The eSprinter comes with a battery certificate and a maintenance package that includes the first four years of service in the purchase price.
