Ford issued a second recall June 6 on the Ford Maverick pickup because faulty engine parts could pose a fire risk, and an expanded recall that also covers 2020-2023 MY Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair SUVs with 2.5L hybrid or plug-in hybrid engines.

The recall covers 125,000 vehicles in total.

In July 2022, Ford recalled 100,000 Maverick, Escape, and Corsair models in the U.S. The automaker identified 23 reports globally of a fire or smoke after a breach or block of the oil pan, Reuters reports.

Ford reported at least three vehicles that suffered fires after getting the 2022 recall fixed. Maverick is also under recall for some 2022 models for an issue with the side airbag system, according to the Reuters report,

Ford said the new recall fix is under development.
