Ron Breslow, long-time COO for FLD Remarketing, has retired after spending more than four decades with the company that he helped build.

Breslow helped grow the company, which is based in Delray Beach, Fla., from a small regional player to the industry’s largest vehicle remarketing company, according to the company. In the late 1970’s, Breslow partnered with Michael Sheinson – who had just started Fleet Lease Disposal – now FLD – to buy and sell end of lease fleet vehicles and equipment. Sheinson later passed away in 2013.

During his career, Breslow was personally responsible for remarketing over 250,000 vehicles, and the strategies and techniques he developed are still industry standards today, the company said. That includes introducing the fleet industry’s first online vehicle condition report in 1997, a process that had previously taken weeks to conduct.

Prior to working with FLD Remarketing, he was the owner of D&R Auto Sales and Repairs from 1977 to 1980, and earlier he was a new product technician for Ford from 1961 to 1977.

Breslow was also recognized as one of the first fleet professionals to widely tap auctions as a preferred way to quickly remarket vehicles, the company said. He helped develop FLD’s distinct value proposition, which pays vehicle sellers up-front instead of having them wait weeks or months to get paid after a vehicle finally sells, the company said.

“Ron was – and still is – one of a kind,” said Garry Mott, president of FLD Remarking. “I’ve learned so much from him not just about remarketing, but about life. We’re all going to miss him.”
