Subaru of America, Inc. is recalling certain 2021 Outback and Impreza vehicles due to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) select lever cable nut that may not have been tightened properly, according to the NHTSA.

A loose nut can lead to a loss of retention in the CVT select lever cable and the gear selector not functioning properly, increasing risk of crash.

Subaru will notify owners, and dealers will inspect, and, if necessary, tighten the nut, free of charge.  Approximately 383 units may be affected, NHTSA said.

The recall is expected to begin February 19, 2021. The NHTSA Campaign Number is 21V024000
