The Hybrid powertrain 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine produces an estimated 177 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque, with an estimated 226 total system combined horsepower. The hybrid powertrain also produces an estimated 258 lb.-ft. of torque from the combined hybrid powertrain, with a 44.2 kW electric motor and a 1.49 kWh battery pack.

The plug-in hybrid also features 1.6L turbocharged, direct-injected hybrid powertrain coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. The PHEV battery is larger than the hybrid battery, with 13.8 kWh of power, yielding an estimated all-electric range of 28 miles and estimated fuel economy of over 70 MPGe.

Standard safety features as part of the Hyundai SmartSense suite for the new compact SUV include forward collision-avoidance assist; lane keeping assist; high beam assist; driver attention warning; and rear occupant alert.

New technological features include Remote Smart Park Assist, to help drivers maneuver out of tight spaces; Remote Start with Heated and Ventilated Seats; and a digital key that allows drivers to access their vehicle using a smartphone. On the inside is a standard eight-inch touchscreen, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and a new voice recognition system.

The new Tucson is also larger, inside and out. Cargo space volume has increased to 38.7 cubic feet, up from 31 in 2021. Passenger volume has also increased to 108.2 cubic feet. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson also has a longer wheelbase, which is now at 108.5 inches, and the overall length, height, and width have increased as well.
