BOSTON – More and more drivers are naming their GPS systems, according to the Boston Herald. For instance, Publisher David Yas name his car’s GPS system Janet, and realtor Kim Kasten named her system Richard. According to Ted Gartner, spokesman for GPS manufacturer Garmin International Inc., naming GPS systems is simply a matter of making something your own. “I think people just feel like they need to personalize these things,” he said, as quoted by the Boston Herald. And, it seems that GPS systems are developing personalities of their own. Garmin International now offers more than two dozen named voices in dozens of different languages, such as Spanish Americans Javier and Paulina, Brits Daniel and Emily, French Canadians Felix and Julie, and Brazilian Raquel.
