SKOKIE, IL – The Rand McNally MONA mobile phone-based navigation is now available. The downloadable application has a monthly fee of $9.99. The program turns an ordinary wireless phone into a portable, global positioning system (GPS)-enabled, turn-by-turn, voice-guided navigation device. The wireless service requires no additional contracts or equipment. Clear voice prompts guide drivers with turn-by-turn driving directions to their specified destinations and automatically alerts and reroutes drivers who miss or make an incorrect turn. Trips can be planned and managed online from a business or home computer, where users can enter all their destination addresses online, which are then automatically downloaded to the user’s phone. And, with a list of addresses saved to their phones, local delivery and service personnel can get into their vehicles, quickly select their next delivery or job location, and be on their way. Wireless users also may subscribe by downloading the application directly through their phones’ wireless Internet.
