NEW YORK – The New York Taxi Workers’ Alliance recently gathered in Manhattan to rally against GPS installation in cabs throughout the city, according to Newsday. In Mar. 2004, the Taxi and Limousine Commission mandated that GPS be installed in cabs, along with other technological innovations. However, there is no specific timeline for the mandate. Alliance members said that they will bear the cost of having the GPS equipment installed in their cabs.
