It comes as no real surprise to find that government fleet managers who run the largest fleets are paid more than those who run smaller numbers of vehicles. In addition, the higher compensation levels are reached by those who have the most experience in fleet. Overall, relatively few government fleet managers fall into the lowest salary range, below $35,000 per year. The greatest number fall into the range centered around $50,000, but no one reported a salary over $90,000. Looked at from another point of view, the most highly paid government fleet managers run fleets of 500 vehicles or more. In terms of experience, fleet managers with 20 or more years in fleet pull down the largest government salaries, with the next largest group those with between 10 and 20 years experience.
