Calif. Senate Passes Airbag Repair Bill

SACRAMENTO, CA - The California Senate on May 19 passed a bill that would increase penalties against collision repair shops that include airbag repair and restoration work on an accepted written estimate but then never actually perform the service. If passed, the legislation would make such a deceptive practice a misdemeanor punishable by a $5,000 fine, one year in county jail, or both.

Recall to Address Airbag Defect in Volvo, Jaguar Land Rover Vehicles

WASHINGTON - ALPS Electric Co. has informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that more than 12,700 airbag clock springs the company manufactured and sold to Volvo Cars and Jaguar Land Rover as original equipment is defective, the agency reported. As a result, Volvo and Jaguar Land Rover will notify affected vehicle owners, and dealers will provide the necessary repairs free of charge.
