Western Star Trucks Inc. has qualified for the ISO 9001:2000 quality standard of the International Organization for Standardization. The certification follows an independent audit of Western Star’s operations, management and quality systems. Western Star is one of the first North American heavy-duty truck manufacturers to qualify for this new quality standard. The year 2000 version of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 standard is a consolidation of the ISO 9001, 9002 and 9003. ISO 9001:2000 certification must demonstrate that business processes are designed to deliver continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. Areas such as internal communication, quality awareness, customer communication and departmental and functional objectives are audited, in addition to the traditional quality system areas of corrective actions, internal auditing and documentation control.
