PALO ALTO, CA - Volkswagen AG Chairman Martin Winterkorn said the automaker plans to launch a hybrid version of its Touareg SUV in the U.S. later this year, the Wall Street Journal reported.
PALO ALTO, CA - Volkswagen AG Chairman Martin Winterkorn said the automaker plans to launch a hybrid version of its Touareg SUV in the U.S. later this year, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Volkswagen hopes to develop a series of new hybrid and electric vehicles so that by 2018, these alternative-fuel vehicles will account for 3 percent of the automaker's total global sales.
Winterkorn added that a hybrid version of the Jetta sedan was scheduled for 2012, and a fully electric vehicle powered by a battery pack was expected to launch in 2013.
