SIRIUS, a satellite radio provider delivering commercial-free music and sports programming to cars and homes across the country, is expected to be available in early January 2005 as a dealer-installed accessory in four 2005 model year Volvo cars, including the S80, S60, V70, and XC70. These Volvo vehicles will have factory-equipped radios that display artist, song title, and category when playing SIRIUS. To facilitate retailer kit installations, Volvo will also offer a pre-wire solution as a factory-installed option. To obtain SIRIUS service, the retailer must install a tuner and antenna. Pricing will be announced at a later date. SIRIUS provides listeners with 65 channels of 100% commercial-free music as well as over 55 channels of news, sports, weather, traffic information, original entertainment, and call-in talk shows, for $12.95 a month with discounts for advance payments of one-year or more. SIRIUS is expected to be available on additional Volvo vehicles in the near future.
