Volvo has released more details on its redesigned 2015 XC90 luxury SUV, including the plug-in hybrid model Volvo claims will deliver 110 mpg.
The XC90 is a product of Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture, with a new chassis design and 2.0L four-cylinder engine. The Twin (T8) Engine plug-in hybrid will top the XC90 range, with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder supercharged, turbocharged engine powering the front wheels, while an electric motor will drive the rear wheels. This engine promises 394 hp and a fuel consumption of 110 mpg.
The rest of the engine lineup will be petrol and diesel engines. The D4 engine produces 187 hp with 56mpg and the D5 provides 223 hp with 47 mpg.
The XC90 has added new safety technology including a pre-crash protection for rear impacts. The feature is just another development of City Safe. Other safety features offered are safe positioning and roll stability control.
Volvo unveiled the XC90 earlier this year. Volvo dealers are taking pre-orders on the new SUV.
