Volvo will offer a plug-in hybrid version of its XC60 crossover and V60 wagon, which means its entire 60-Series lineup will now offer some form of electrification, according to the company.
Volvo's 2020 XC60 and V60, which will offer the powertrain with its T8 Polestar Engineered trim, will include a turbocharged and supercharged inline-four-cylinder with an electric motor mounted to the rear axle that will make 415 horsepower and 494 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain, which debuted on the 2019 S60 sedan, uses software that's been optimized to provider faster access to torque and focus additional power to the rear wheels.
The vehicles will also include advanced suspension technology from Ohlins that uses dual flow valves in the struts so the suspension can more quickly respond to variable road conditions.
Volvo will begin offering the powertrain in the U.S. this summer.
