SAN FRANCISCO — A hybrid fuel cell vehicle from German manufacturer Volkswagen has been revealed at a recent exhibition in San Francisco. The Volkswagen Touran HyMotion uses an 80 kW high-torque electric motor that draws its power from a fuel cell and has no emissions. The company already has petrol and diesel hybrid versions on sale, which it says are the most suc-cessful vans available in Germany. When converted, the Touran’s hydrogen tank has a capacity of 1.9 kg, which corresponds to the energy contained in 7.5 liters of petrol. The motor also has a high level of efficiency — a full tank enables the Touran to drive for about 160 km.
